With hub-piloted wheels, the weight of the wheel and tire rests on the top pilots creating a gap in the bottom pilots. Even the smallest gap results in an “egg-shaped” motion upon rotation. This uneven motion creates tire vibration and irregular tire wear. The bottom line is you can’t balance an egg. The TRU-BALANCE products bypass the hub pilots and center the wheel back to the wheel studs. This creates true center of the wheel and eliminates the uneven motion. The result is a smooth ride, increased tire life and increased fuel mileage. How to choose the right solution for you Regardless of which solution you choose, you should always use the TRU-BALANCE wire brush to thoroughly clean the holes and the threads to ensure the best centering results. All of the TRU-BALANCE products do the same thing: They center the wheels. The only difference is the application of the product. If you can fit a business card between any of your pilots, you are off center.
